More on Computer Retailers…

If you read my earlier post entitled Computer Retailers Suck, then you noticed I purchased my 24″ iMac at CompUSA.  My comments were in large part directed at the poor quality of service I got there.

It’s interesting to note that earlier this month, CompUSA announced they were going to close 350 of their worst-performing stores.  Including all five stores in the Greater Phoenix area.  There will be one store left in Arizona, and it will be in Tucson.

CompUSA tends to run promotions that follow the other Big-Box stores, like Best Buy and Ultimate Electronics, but for the most part, their prices have always hovered very close to retail.  That doesn’t work well when there are a couple of Fry’s Electronics stores fairly close.

The liquidators handling the CompUSA close-outs apparently don’t care either.  Most prices are only 10% below their MSRP prices.  Nearly everything supposedly “on sale” at the nearby CompUSA stores can be had at a greater discount if you want to drive a mere 5 miles to a Fry’s store.  I guess they’re not in much of a hurry.

John Delavera’s Omens

If you read my previous post, you’d notice that there’s a link where you can get onto John’s list where he’s discussing seven “omens” that he’s noticed recently. These omens are signifying storm clouds on the horizon of how things on the web are being done. The landscape is slowly shifting. Change is afoot.

Click here to get on his distribution list. It’s definitely worth it!
